Editorial assistant | PaperCrafter Magazine

A demanding role requiring strong organisational skills. Alongside the editor and deputy editor, I oversaw content through all stages of production from writing and proofreading to attending photo shoots and liaising with designers. By managing their Facebook and Twitter, I initiated engagement strategies.

3rd - 7th July 2017 & 1st - 5th June, 10th - 14th August 2015

Initiated and researched news leads, identified and interviewed sources, wrote stories from press releases and original information and visited court. Solihull News published my work on several occasions.

2017 - Present

Three key university modules:

Advanced Features: I have produced a range of articles from a business feature to a persoanl experience piece targetted for specific publications. The research process allowed me to develop my professional rapport while I also enhanced my skills to tailor my content to particular titles and audiences.
Magazine Production: I developed and expressed my self-identity and creative flair while learning the processes of graphic design and the magazine profession. I worked individually and in a group, using InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, to produce two volumes of Go With Me magazine to fortnightly deadlines. I enjoy creating these elements so other people can experience something unique.
Media Law & Ethics: This module enabled me to explore and respond to contemporary journalism issues. During Media Law, I considered and applied the ethics and legalities of reporting.

2013 - 2016

Shortlisted for The BBC Worldwide Outstanding Consumer Journalist 2018 award
I have written a series of articles exploring the importance of gut health for overall well-being. I aspire to specialise in health & well-being journalism.
I have launched a prototype of an independent art & cultural magazine called The Fresh Palette from my enjoyment of reading and writing about art & cultural news.
I have written my dissertation questioning 'How does the BBC's use of social media impact audience perceptions of their news reporting?'
I have volunteered and participated in organising events such as Compass Jobs Fair, ‘MADwDATA’ and ‘About Town’. I have also hosted a music launch night and an academic exhibition with my peers.
I have a basic understanding of Spanish.
